MARY I OF ENGLAND
Mary I of England was known as Mary Tudor.She was born the 18th of February 1516 at the Palace of Placentia,Grenwich.She was a sickly girl with sight problems and headache.She was Henry's VIII and Catherine's of Aragon daughter,this means she was Catholic Monarch's grandchild.
She was the fourth monarch of the Tudor dynasty,remembered by repealins the reforms introduced by his father,Henry VIII and subdue back England to the authority of the Pope,the 30th November 1554 with the support of Cardinal Reginald Pole.In this process almost 300 dissidents,were sentenced to die at the bonfire in the Marian Persecutions,because of that she received the Protestant historiosgraphy nicknamed Bloody Mary.
At the age of 37,Mary turned her attentionon finding a husband and producing an heir,to prevent the Protestant Elizabeth (still her succesor under the terms of Henry VIII's will) from succeeding the throne.Mary I reject the candidate Earl of Devon as she wanted to marry Prince Philip of Spain,future Philip II,son of Charles V.Finally she married Philip of Spain.When her husband rise to the Spanish throne as Philip II she became consort of Spain.
During her reign she suffered two false pregnancies,there were speculation that it could be due to the pressure of create an heir,she had physical symbols like breastfeeding and lose sight,they suspected that it was some hormonal disorder,such as a pituitary tumor.
Mary I decree in her testament that her husband should acquire the regncy in their progency had not reached the age of majority.
She died the 17th of November 1558 in the St.James Palace.
